International Primary Curriculum (IPC)
Our children thrive using this exciting and innovative approach to learning which is designed to prepare them for the future and focuses on academic learning as well as developing the whole child’s personal qualities and characteristics.
English
We encourage children’s self expression by providing opportunities to develop confidence and skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing. We equip our young learners with a strong command of the spoken and written language and encourages them to be effective communicators.
Mathematics
The aim is for all of our young learners to become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics so that they develop their ability to recall and apply knowledge rapidly and accurately. Our vision is for every child to enjoy and succeed in mathematics.
Library
“The only thing that you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library.”
This quote by Albert Einstein sums up our passion for reading. Our well-stocked Library is a magical place where we can develop our reading skills and deepen our understanding and enjoyment of everything connected with books.
Music
One of the many languages spoken by the students at St. Michael’s is the language of Music. We are fortunate to have a large, modern hall for music lessons and performances, as well as a vast range of high quality instruments for children to explore their creative potential.
Physical Education
At St. Michael’s we support students to develop knowledge, skills and understanding regarding their own physical health and wellbeing. By encouraging all students to engage in regular physical activity we hope to help them build healthy, life long habits.
Japanese
The Japanese Language programme is aimed at providing access to all, as well as creating challenge and excitement through our broad and well-resourced curriculum.
Assessment
We believe that assessment is about building a picture over time of a child’s learning progress across the curriculum. Teachers gather a range of evidence about how and what your child learns on an ongoing basis and use this data to support the planned learning taking place.
English Language Learning (ELL)
At St. Michael’s International School, we welcome many students who use a home language other than English and a key aim is for all of our children to develop English language fluency by the end of Year Six.
Learning Enrichment
Our aim is to help all of our children to reach their fullest potential by providing appropriate support and challenge as necessary. This support includes welcoming students with Special Educational Needs so long as we have the resources and facilities to do so.
